I wrote this song for my daughter's birthday. My daughter's birth month is the end of August, but I chose September because I feel more refreshed than August Blue as a title. The lyrics are as follows.

この曲は娘の誕生日にあわせて作曲しました。娘の誕生月は8月末ですが、タイトルとしてオーガスト・ブルーよりもセプテンバー・ブルーの方が爽やかに感じるため、9月にしました。歌詞は以下の通りです。

This is a small symphony (sinfonietta) I composed for my wife's birthday. The first movement covers from birth to adolescence, the second from marriage to childbirth, the third from ambition to achievement, and the fourth from farewell to reunion. The beginning of the first movement expresses the heartbeat that echoes from the void. The marriage in the second movement reveals the solemn Gagaku sound of the shrine. In the third movement, the effort for a new challenge begins, and finally the emigration to Canada is achieved. The fourth movement is the finale of parting with her husband, parting with her grown daughter, returning to her mother and flying out into the world again, and parting with this world and reuniting with her husband.　April 2023

これは妻の誕生日のために作曲した小交響曲です。第1楽章は出生から青年期まで、第2楽章は結婚から出産まで、第3楽章は野心から達成まで、第4楽章は別れから再会まで、を描写しています。第1楽章の始まりは虚空から響きだす鼓動を表現しています。第2楽章の結婚は神社での厳粛な雅楽的な響きを現わしています。第3楽章は新たな挑戦に向けた努力が始まり、遂にカナダへの移住が達成されます。第4楽章は夫との別れ、成長した娘との別れ、母のもとに帰還して再び世界に飛び立ち活躍をする娘、そしてこの世界との別れを迎え、夫との再会を果たすフィナーレとなっています。2023年4月

This symphonic poem was composed in the image of Debussy's symphonic poem "La Mer". The tune depicts the New Year from sunrise to sunset. In order to strengthen the impression of Japan, it is composed on a pentatonic scale, and the image of Michio Miyagi's "Haru no Umi (Sea of Spring)" is also superimposed. As with the other tunes, it is
composed of short phrases like waka poems, and I think it makes the day progress faster. C

この交響詩はドビュッシーの交響詩『海』をイメージて作曲しました。曲は初日の出から日没までを描いています。日本的な印象を強めるために 5 音階で作曲し、さらに宮城道雄の『春の海』のイメージも重ねています。他の曲もそうですが、和歌のように短いフレ
ーズで構成しており、一日の進行が速く感じられるかも知れません。

The title of the piano concerto is "Gentian(a)", which means plant of Gentiana in Latin. I started composing music to commemorate the birth of my daughter and decided on the title after her name. Initially, it was a song with piano accompaniment, but later it was expanded into a piano concerto in three-movement form. Although the entire concerto is short, I aimed for a concise piece expressed in short phrases, like a waka poem. Since it is an amateur work, I think there are problems with the composition method and lack of musical expression, but I would appreciate it if you could feel free to listen to it. この曲名は“Gentian(a)”としていますが、ラテン語で植物のりんどうを意味しています。私の娘が生まれるのを記念して作曲を始め、娘の名前から曲名を決めました。当初はピアノ伴奏付きの歌曲でしたが、その後、曲を拡大して3楽章形式のピアノ協奏曲にしました。協奏曲全体は短いものですが、和歌のように短いフレーズで表現された簡潔な作品を目指したためです。素人作品ですから作曲法上の問題や表現不足もあると思いますが、気楽にお聞きいただければ幸いです。作曲者 中村道彦　2023年3月28日
